News

Every WoW: Forever announcement on a page of its own - with its date, its source, and whether Blizzard said it themselves or it is only being reported.

  1. Confirmed

Launch times by region, and the choice between Classic and Enhanced

Blizzard has published the launch times for November 4 region by region: the servers open at 3:00 p.m. PST, which is midnight on November 5 in central Europe. New is a screen on first login where you pick one of two starting setups - Classic or Enhanced.

  2. Confirmed

Podcast episode 6: layering, world moves, and factions on Roleplay-PvP

In the sixth episode of its podcast, Blizzard talks through the tech behind the seamless world: what gets better at zone borders for launch, why joining a group no longer just moves you, and that faction balance on Roleplay-PvP aims for 50/50 on its own.

  3. Confirmed

Blizzard quietly revises the ruleset article - with three sentences this site was missing

On 29 October Blizzard rewrote its ruleset article without saying so. Roleplay-PvP now has a description of its own, faction balance applies to "the PvP rulesets" - and two older sentences on battlegrounds and paused character creation were not on this site yet.

  4. Reported

MeinMMO interview: layering comes first, the new raids sit between Molten Core and Blackwing Lair

During a tour of Forever at the end of the beta, MeinMMO spoke with Kris Zierhut and Aidan Moon. The key points: layering is the engineering team's top priority, dungeon and raid loot is missing from the client on purpose, and Barrow Deeps and Hyjal Summit are meant to be a little harder than Molten Core.

  5. Rumor

Hunters get weaker, and five new clients ahead of launch

Five new Forever clients have appeared since 27 October. In the newest, two hunter values drop: Aspect of the Hawk and Trueshot Aura give less attack power. A list with exact numbers is going around the forums, Blizzard has written nothing about it, and the client does not fully match it.

  6. Confirmed · reported

Name reservation: a delay in Europe, an Oceanic bug, and wrongly restricted names

Name reservation for Forever opened on 27 October, not without stumbles. Europe started late, Australian servers made you create roleplay characters first, and a faulty name list blocked harmless names. Roleplay-PvP was selectable.

  7. Reported

IGN interview: major patches about every four months, dual spec at launch

In IGN's big launch interview, Kris Zierhut and Tim Jones lay out a rhythm for Forever: a major patch about three times a year, at least four months between raid tiers, PvP seasons on the same spacing. Plus dual spec from day one and a no to new capital cities.

  8. Confirmed

Around launch: a poster signing, the launch trailer and an official Discord

Besides game content, Blizzard spent the last week before launch mostly on everything around it: a developer poster signing in California, an anime-style launch trailer, an official Discord server, and three video series with creators and celebrities.

  9. Confirmed

Final pass on racials: Command returns, Ruthless halved

A week before launch, Blizzard went over the racial abilities once more. The principle is now "racial identity": some races should be slightly better at some roles. Orcs get Command back, dwarves trade crit bonus for hit chance, and the Skyborne get weaker away from ley lines and convergences.

  10. Confirmed

Short story "Unbowed": can a Forsaken serve the Light?

Blizzard's new short story follows Cormack, a former Scarlet Crusader who comes back as one of the Forsaken. It introduces the new Undead paladin - as a download and as a video.

How these items are written

An item here has exactly one subject and at least one source, listed underneath. The label at the top says where it comes from: Confirmed means Blizzard wrote it, said it, or put it in the client. Reported means Blizzard staff said it through someone else, such as an interview. Rumor means it comes from the files or from individual players.

Where an item contradicts another page here, that page gets corrected and the item says which one. Older items stay up even once they are out of date - with a line on top saying what superseded them.
