1.60.1.70170
The build that came back from maintenance on 1 October: level cap 30, the Excavation Site, Razorfen Downs and Uldaman, and the longest development notes of the beta so far. In the talent trees it is a small build - one Feral talent gone, two new, one moved up a row, two renamed. The large warrior rework in the notes is not in the trees we read.
Build of October 1, 2026 — Blizzard: WoW Forever Beta Development Notes – Updated October 1, Kaivax
What changed
- World Level cap 30. The Excavation Site in the Wetlands opens for levels 26 to 31 - two higher than the 24 to 29 in Blizzard's table of 15 September. Razorfen Downs (25+) and Uldaman (30+) open next to the eleven dungeons that were already available.
- Class Druid: Tiger's Fury is removed, and so is the Feral talent King of the Jungle. In its place sits Shifting Power - 55% of base mana into 40 energy, Cat Form only, 16-second cooldown - below Shredding Attacks, with Improved Shifting Power under it taking 4 or 8 seconds off the cooldown. All shapeshift forms are immune to disarm, and bears gain 75% more rage from critical strikes.
- Class Warrior: critical strikes with basic attacks generate 100% more rage - 75% in the first version of the notes, raised the same evening. Dual Wield Specialization no longer gives the main hand its hit chance, and Fury and Protection are reworked: Lingering Rage, Furious Precision and Gore Drinker are new, Improved Cleave, Boundless Rage and Toughness are gone, Iron Will moves from Fury to Protection, and Death Wish instead of Enrage now leads to Flurry.
- Class Mage and Warlock: Hot Streak is now Heating Up, "since it is no longer dependent on having a streak", and Combustion goes back to 3 charges. Soul Harvesting is now Soul Harvest and finally grants its 50 or 100% mana regeneration.
- Class Paladin: Redoubt's block chance falls to 4/8/12/16/20% (was up to 30%), Holy Shield's rises to 30% (was 20%), and Champion of the Light converts Intellect to spell damage at 20/40/60% instead of 33/66/100%.
- Systems Dungeon quests give 50% less bonus experience, as part of what Blizzard calls ongoing discussions about levelling speed. Honor costs of PvP gear rise by about 50%, and the honor cap from 15,000 to 25,000.
- Items A bind-on-equip item with an appearance you have not collected becomes soulbound when sold to a vendor - before, it became bound to account.
- Fix Kyle's Gone Missing! is in Mulgore - three days after Blizzard answered players who missed the Burning Crusade quest with "We're working on it."
In the client, not in the notes
Two moves in the Feral tree are not in the development notes. Shredding Attacks now sits one row higher, in row 3 instead of 4, which makes it 5 points cheaper to reach - the class deep dive of 30 September had announced that for a later build, and this is the build. And Predatory Instincts moved within row 5 from the first column to the fourth, to make room for Improved Shifting Power. That one is in no Blizzard text.
Where the reports disagree
A separate post by Kaivax, "Warrior Updates in Today's Beta Build", says the Fury and Protection changes "made it into today's new Beta build". The trees we read out of 70170 do not have them: no Lingering Rage, Furious Precision or Gore Drinker, and Improved Cleave, Boundless Rage and Toughness are still there, with Iron Will in Fury. An independent tracker that regenerates from the CDN counts exactly two new talent node entries in this build - the two Shifting Power talents - and none for the warrior, and finds nothing new in 70178 either. Either the warrior changes run on the server while the client tree has not followed, or they come with a later client. Blizzard has not said which, and the calculator keeps showing the trees as the client has them. The client followed with 1.60.1.70291, recorded on 9 October: the rework is in its trees.
