Hall of Thanes

From the BlizzCon preview build

A burial chamber beneath the throne room of Ironforge. Dark Iron dwarves have tunnelled in to loot the tombs of its kings and woken restless spirits. Alliance-side, the counterpart to Ragefire Chasm. One of the two dungeons open in beta week one.

Where this comes from

This dungeon is open in the beta and people are running it. What follows comes from the beta client and from reports by those who were inside - not from a Blizzard announcement. Anything several sources report the same way independently is in; where they disagree, the disagreement sits under the open questions instead of a decision we are in no position to make. A build can change all of it tomorrow.

Durgen Dirgehammer

Final boss - every beta report puts him last

Reported, not confirmed

  • He does not come alone

Two Lesser Stone Golems stand with him and are reported to hit hard enough that groups take them down first.

Source: Beta guides and client data, build 1.60.1.69913 - reported the same way by several sources
  • A bleed and an area fear

The fear is what the reports single out: at the wrong moment it pulls the group into the next pack, which is why he is fought with room around him.

Source: Beta guides and client data, build 1.60.1.69913 - reported the same way by several sources
  • His head is a quest objective

Durgen Dirgehammer's Head is handed in to King Magni Bronzebeard in Ironforge, for the quest Old Ironforge Incursion.

Open questions

  • Blizzard has published nothing about this encounter - all of it comes from the beta client
  • The loot table. Beta reports name Durgen's Crescent Axe, Robes of the Disgraced Thane and Direhammer Leggings, but item values differ between builds.

Loot

  • Durgen's Crescent Axe Main hand, axe Reported the same way repeatedly 20-39 damage, +2 Strength, +1 Agility, +1 Spirit
  • Direhammer Leggings Legs, leather Reported the same way repeatedly +4 Agility, +7 Stamina
  • Robes of the Disgraced Thane Chest, cloth Reported the same way repeatedly No values reported

Where this comes from matters: which boss drops what is not in the client. The table for it (CollectableSourceEncounter) is empty and loot is handed out server-side. The assignment below therefore comes from players who ran the dungeon and reported what dropped - several sites carry the same figures, which argues against coincidence but does not prove they are independent of each other. The item itself is read from the client. Where it says the values differ, sources give different figures; take the name, not the number.

Quests

  • Important Heirlooms Alliance Picked up near the entrance, from Thom Filch.
  • The Restless Dead Alliance Kill 15 Enraged Apparitions and 10 Tormented Souls - the same trash that stands around the first boss. Reports place the quest giver in two different spots in Ironforge.
  • An Ancient Grudge Alliance From the Ghostly Attendant inside the dungeon, in the west wing.
  • Old Ironforge Incursion Alliance The end of a chain out in Dun Morogh, not a quest at the door. Take Durgen Dirgehammer's head to King Magni Bronzebeard. Sharing fails for anyone who has not done the earlier step.
  • Treaty of Understanding Alliance Started by an item in the final area, so it cannot be shared - everyone loots their own.
