What it is
Every character can place a basic campfire. Around it there is room for three more camping features - and this is where the decision that defines the system sits: each player may contribute only one feature.
A camp with all three slots filled is therefore never one person's work. Anyone who wants the full benefit needs two others to put something down. That is not a side effect but plainly the point.
Sit by the fire or craft there for a minute and you receive the bonuses from whatever is standing around it.
What a camp gives you
These values are read out of the beta client:
| Effect | Value |
|---|---|
| Critical strike chance | +2% |
| Stats | +8% |
| Rested experience | up to 5% of a character level |
Class buffs from camps are not meant to stack - Blizzard has said so. The bonuses from up to three built features last an hour.
Every profession builds something different
Nearly every profession has a camping progression of its own that opens up with skill. The first craftable feature arrives at skill 20 - which most characters reach before leaving the starting zone.
What comes out of it is not only buffs: some features bring a vendor, others are crafting stations, others gathering spots - greenhouses, ore deposits, fishing holes - or they grant rested experience or repair your gear.
The blueprints for the stronger features drop in dungeons, and the best sit behind the level 55 to 60 ones. Camping is not a starting-zone system but one that runs all the way to the end.
The Cozy Sleeping Bag is back
The quest chain from Season of Discovery returns in Forever, from level 14. It rewards a reusable sleeping bag you can roll out anywhere.
Lie in it and you gain 1% bonus experience per minute, up to 3% after three minutes - then a one hour cooldown. It comes with rested experience consumables and a twelve slot bag.
The chain starts at Alexston Farmstead in Westfall for the Alliance, and in the Barrens south of Camp Taurajo for the Horde.
What is not known yet
How long camp bonuses actually last. One source says two hours, another says one. Both draw on the same beta build.
The full list of features per profession. Tiered lists are going around, but none that would hold up against a second source.
Whether the values stay. Camping only arrives with launch on November 4; everything above comes from the running beta build and is not announced.
