Location
The Riverglades sit on the eastern coast of the Eastern Kingdoms, filling the space between Redridge, the Burning Steppes, the Badlands and the Swamp of Sorrows - an area that was a blank spot on the Classic map for years. Blizzard describes the landscape as rivers, grasslands and trade routes, threaded with communities holding their ground and grudges that never quite settled.
The biggest chunk of new content
The Riverglades are the largest of the four new regions - Blizzard puts them at "roughly the size of Stranglethorn Vale", built out of a part of the Classic world that was there but never accessible. The level range runs from the mid-30s to the mid-40s, precisely the stretch Classic players traditionally find the biggest slog.
On the quest count Blizzard has given two figures: the What's Next panel recap says "more than 150", the Found Photos recap says "nearly 200". Both are official, so this page says 150 to 200 until one of them is confirmed. They are playable for both factions and come with new reputations.
Powderfuse Port
The neutral goblin port has a name: Powderfuse Port, run by the new Powderfuse goblins. It is the landing point of the third new sea route, the one that sets out with the Steamwheedle Cartel in Tanaris - so the Riverglades are reached across the water rather than only overland.
That fits the stated direction of WoW: Forever, growing the world sideways instead of adding levels on top - a port open to both factions creates connections rather than another dead end.
Who lives there
Blizzard's video of 19 October, "Your Leveling Journey Past 30", names the zone's parties. The names below are written as the client spells them (the subtitles mishear them).
- Brotherhood of the Horse (Alliance). A faction from Warcraft II: the most elite knights of Stormwind, who fought at Blackrock Mountain. When Turalyon marched the Alliance on the Dark Portal, they disobeyed and kept hunting the Horde remnants instead - oath-breaking to some, the greater honour to others. Either way they broke with Stormwind for good. Twenty years on they hold Farholde Keep; for them the Second War never ended.
- Bolder'ok clan (Horde). Ogres who used to be Twilight's Hammer and broke away after seeing what became of their kin. They live with enemies on all sides: their former masters in Krol'dok Stronghold, and the humans of Farholde competing for the open plains.
- Twilight's Hammer. Both factions clash with them. They have taken the westernmost stronghold of the old Horde, now called Twilight's Shroud, and Krol'dok Stronghold - a foothold that, in Blizzard's words, bodes ill for the whole of the Eastern Kingdoms.
Around that, the video shows the zone's smaller quests - wrecking a pirate operation, rescuing a horse - and a fighting ring deep in ogre territory where players take on the ogres' best brawlers. The subtitles and Wowhead give the ring two different names, and the client tables we checked do not carry it, so it stays unnamed here.
Krol'dok Stronghold
One of the nine new dungeons sits inside the Riverglades: Krol'dok Stronghold, an ogre stronghold tied to the Twilight's Hammer cult. Massively OP describes it as a "large outdoor dungeon".
The level range is 40 to 45 - and since September 15 that is an official figure. Blizzard posted about it on the forums specifically because an incorrect range was circulating in several places. One of those places was this page: it carried 40 to 55, taken from hands-on reports and marked as unconfirmed.
Still open
Blizzard has not published a map of the region itself - the one above was read from the client files - and has said nothing about flight points or rest areas. Each faction's allies are now known by name - the Brotherhood of the Horse at Farholde Keep for the Alliance, the Bolder'ok clan for the Horde - but which reputations exist and what they unlock is still open.
