Mount Hyjal

The aftermath of Archimonde's defeat: the night elves have lost their immortality, something is draining the power of the land — and the mountain holds one of three entrances into the Barrow Deeps.

After the battle

Mount Hyjal in WoW: Forever picks up directly after the events of Warcraft III: Archimonde is defeated, the world tree Nordrassil paid the price, and the night elves have lost their immortality. The zone does not show the triumph, it shows what comes after — a land rebuilding itself while something pulls the power out of the ground.

For Classic players that is notable because Hyjal existed in original Azeroth but was never enterable. It becomes an endgame leveling destination without touching the level cap of 60.

Darkwhisper Gorge

One named part of the zone is Darkwhisper Gorge, which the journey leads through. Blizzard presents it as a stage along the way rather than a side attraction.

Connection to the raids

Hyjal is the hub for both new raids:

  • Hyjal Summit (20 players) sits at the peak. Going in means investigating what is draining the land.
  • Barrow Deeps (10 players) has one of three entrances on Hyjal. The Barrow Deeps are therefore reachable from several directions — an unusual layout by Classic standards.

Both raids unlock on December 9, 2026.

Still open

Blizzard gave no concrete level range for Hyjal, classifying it as endgame leveling instead. It is also unclear how access to the zone is gated, whether there is an unlock questline, and whether Hyjal brings its own reputation or profession content.
