Blizzard's launch overview: 30 minutes of Forever, partly out of date

On 3 November Blizzard released a 30-minute launch overview of Forever on its YouTube channel. It walks through zones, Skyborne, classes, gear, professions, Legacy, campsites, the new battleground, dungeons and raids. Most of it is already on this site. Two passages describe talents that Blizzard's own notes from the day before removed or changed.

The video is on Blizzard's own channel "World of Warcraft", so it counts as confirmed. We read it through the automatic subtitles; they give no speaker names, and they mangle proper names ("Mount Hyel", "Enixia's Lair"). We only take names that the client or Blizzard's text confirms.

What the video confirms

  • Raids: Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit and Onyxia's Lair open on December 9. The video calls the raids challenges for "10, 20, or even 40" players. That matches the raid overview.
  • Professions: over 600 new recipes. Two primary professions per character, plus cooking, first aid and fishing for everyone.
  • Legacy: points add up without limit. Cosmetic rewards such as a spectral bear cub and a matching mount unlock at point thresholds. The per-character tree starts with three tracks: professions, adventure and progression.
  • Darkspear Islands: 15 against 15. The Horde signs up at a Darkspear Raiders outpost north of Ratchet, the Alliance at a Theramore camp south of Northwatch Hold.
  • Gear: critical strike chance and damage now apply to every kind of attack, not one stat each for melee, ranged and spells.
  • New race and class pairs: dwarf shaman, Forsaken paladin, human hunter, gnome priest, troll warlock and orc mage. Skyborne of the Alliance can also be mages, Skyborne of the Horde shamans.

Where the video is behind the notes

The video was evidently made before the notes of 2 November. Two passages no longer hold:

  • Retribution paladin: the video presents Instrument of the Law, which turns Holy Wrath into an instant spell. According to the notes this talent is gone.
  • Assassination rogue: the video calls Venom "a finishing move". According to the notes Venom is now passive: Shank raises your poison damage by 30% for six seconds.

The video does not mention Lava Burst, which the notes remove from the shaman. For what holds now, see the item on the notes of 2 November.

What this changes here

Nothing on the topic pages. Dates, raid sizes and the new pairs were already there. The video is a source for the launch, not for the class trees.
