What it is
Five cloth pieces - robe, gloves, belt, legs, boots - requiring roughly level 17 to 19, with item levels in the low twenties. The set is called Rotmender's Raiment, and its bonuses are aimed squarely at somebody healing a dungeon group on the way up:
- Two pieces: a flat Intellect bonus. One reading gives +10; another lists the record without resolving the number, so treat the figure as the softest thing on this page.
- Three pieces: all threat you generate is reduced by 5%.
- Four pieces: when your mana drops below 15%, it restores 600 mana over 15 seconds. Once every five minutes.
- Five pieces: your healing spells can apply Rotmending, which restores 40 health every 3 seconds for 15 seconds.
A five-piece bonus on gear from the high teens is the part worth stopping at. This is the structure Forever gave the old armour sets - thresholds at two, three, four and five pieces instead of Classic's every-other-piece - applied to a set that did not exist before. The systems page on items has the general picture; this is one worked example of it.
The part that was not announced
Two of the five pieces are not new items at all. The boots and the legs were already dropping in the beta under different names - Frostbane Treads and Wispcloth Leggings - and they were renamed into this set. Players who had looted them found the names had changed on gear sitting in their bags.
There is no patch note for that. It is precisely the kind of edit described on the page about changes without a build number: a record altered underneath a client whose version string never moved.
It also tells you where the rest of the set comes from. Those two dropped in Ruins of Lordaeron, the level 15–20 dungeon that opened in week one. The other three - robe, belt, gloves - have not been seen dropping by anybody. The reasonable inference is that they come from the same dungeon, and the honest label for that is inference.
Why this one is worth more than the usual datamine
Most of what gets read out of the Forever client cannot be checked. The interesting item records sit in encrypted sections, the table linking a boss to its drops is empty, and the beta stops at level 20 - so a find at level 40 is unverifiable twice over.
This set is the exception on every count. It requires level 17 to 19, it comes from a dungeon that is open right now, and two of its pieces are demonstrably in circulation because people are wearing them. Anybody in the beta can go and look, which is more than can be said for almost anything else published this week.
What is still open
The numbers may not hold. These are datamined values from a test client; Forever handles encryption differently from other versions of WoW and the published readings already disagree with each other about the two-piece bonus.
Nobody has the whole set. Three of five pieces exist as records and not as loot. Until somebody posts a screenshot of the five-piece bonus firing, Rotmending is a line in a file.
Whether it survives to launch. A set can be renamed twice as easily as once, and this one has already been renamed in place while the beta was running.
